was a great experience. As I said in class today, I learned more about my major in this class than in any one of my major courses. I gained knowledge about myself and others. I learned about different cultures and how diverse we are. We had class discussions which made it a lot easier to understand the material. I wish this class was a requirement for every other student at MSU because it is the exact way all other classes should be run. Thanks for a great semester guys!!---GC

This book is really interesting. Chapters one through ten are full of information, yet it is easy to understand and keeps me thinking. The characters are interesting, and unfortunately live harsh lives. The book keeps me awake because there is always something going on and some things relate to me. Also, there is always a part in a chapter that makes me say, "OH SNAP!, DID SHE REALLY DO THAT?" All in all, RANDOM FAMILY is a good book so far and I look forward to finding out how their lives change throughout the book.

I was not too interested in the Anna Nicole controversy because she was just another person whose life was cut short. She was no one special. Her life was all about publicity. She married an 89 year old, she had fake boobs, she was not attractive, she disgusted me, she was annoying, and I mean yes I do feel bad that she died, and I think she did it for a reason that only she knows and no one else ever will.

I have started to read Random Family and it is an interesting book, so far. There is a lot of information in the beginning of it, but it is all useful information. It begins with a summary of how the lives of the characters have played out till now. I am learning who Lourdes, Jessica, Caesar, and Little Star are and the lives they live. I am enjoying this book, but now it is time for bed. Good Night.

I do not believe drugs/ alcohol/ partying are good ways to deal with stress. I think if you are a celebrity, you can afford to pay for a relaxing massage or spa. This will keep you more relaxed and less stressful, and probably less likely to run into paparazzi!!! I do not know if Britney is on drugs because of the divorce. Only the tests can prove that!! I believe she is competing with MS. PARIS HILTON!! And next time wear some underwear AFTER your pregnancy!! Those pictures are DISGUSTING!!!

I would convict Mr. Oliver of manslaughter because I believe he did not shoot to kill or had any intentions of doing so. He does not deserve to be punished harshly for his actions. He is a cop and he was doing his job. Whenever an African American is shot and killed by a white officer, it is always said that it was done through racism. I believe this is not true for all cases.

I believe a celebrity should have a private life and public life. I think their private should remain private unless they offer to expose it. The photographers should have guidelines so that it does not get out of control. There have been incidents where paparazzi have injured or killed celebrities. I also believe it would destroy there job because no one will enjoy what they photograph , but oh well, sucks for them!! :)

I believe a president should be intelligent(NOT BUSH), grammatically correct (NOT BUSH), experienced in politics, helpful and listens to the people, and can find what they are looking for when they go to war with a different country (NOT BUSH). :)I believe Clinton has more of these qualities than Obama. She is more experienced, smarter, a good listener, and wants to get out of Iraq. Obama is a good man, but lacks experience. PRESIDENT BUSH: NONE OF THE ABOVE!! May the best one win.

School Violence Like What!!! :)

Luckily, school violence has not impacted me a whole lot. In high school, there were a couple of bomb threats that were called in. When found, the students were arrested and fined. I believe hit lists should be taken seriously because you never know when they can be real. If someone finds a hit list they should report it so that they won't regret it if it really happens!! If the student is caught, they should be either expelled, suspended, put in jail, or get counseling help.

Fairy Tales and American Idol...

I believe fairy tales are meant to teach people lessons about life and to be able to relate to them. I also believe they contain stereotypes of different people. They are suppose to teach a moral, but sometimes different authors change the stories around to gain more different audiences, in my opinion.

On American Idol, I believe the voters should have to vote for the worst singer instead of for the best. I think it is the smarter way to vote so that the loser is most likely to leave. Voting for the best only gives "The People" a better chance at keeping the "real losers" on the show!!

Managing For Dummies...

All I have to say is that this book is real good!!!! I bought it last week, but I have completed only a couple of pages. I haven't had much time to read it, since I had a lot of homework this week and 2 midterms coming up in 2 days!!!! But, back to the book. I enjoy it so much because I have read a small amount of pages, yet I have learned so much and can relate to a lot of the material. The format is easy to read and fun at the same time. It is very educational and I actually look forward to use this book to my advantage to increase my knowledge of managing and help me with other aspects of Management that I do not understand. All in a nutshell, I really enjoy this book and will keep it with me for future reference. This is how I look at it: If this was not assigned for homework, I would have definitely, in the future, become a "Dumb Manager!" :)

Plans for final project...

The career that I will be exploring for the final project is Business Management. I have been interested in this field for more than 5 years now. I do not like to write many papers so I believe I will take the technological approach. I will make a website containing the information needed and I will attempt to use imovie or make my own film using another program. I will probably interview one of my current professors and I will use legitimate websites and book references to assist me with this project. It actually sounds real fun and interesting and look forward to working on it.

Women/ Children's Rights!!!

I believe journalists should continue to travel to different countries to report what is going on around the world and how badly women and children are treated. This should open the eyes of world leaders. Then, the leaders of the world should form an agreement that would allow women some rights that they never had. This process will obviously be a long one. However, it will pay off in the end. Women should have the right to work, education, and the right to live their lives as they wish.

Also, there should be an agreement made to help children and to give then the rights they need. They should all have the right to be educated, live freely and to receive the same rights as American children.

The main point I want to make is that all women around the globe should be treated equal to men because they ,themselves, are human beings, too. We need to eliminate all the sexism from the past and start fresh as equal people. This will give everyone the opportunity to live their lives as freely as possible.

A lot of weird stuff is going on in the news lately. Anna Nicole Smith's unexpected death, the fight to find out who her baby's father is, Britney Spears going bald, a dog saving mountain climbers lives, the problems with JetBlue, Jeter and A-rod having problems and the merging of XM and Sirius satellite radio companies.I cannot stand all the nonsense dealing with Anna Nicole Smith. All news channels have headlined, BREAKING NEWS: ANNA NICOLE SMITH DEAD AND WHO'S THE BABY'S FATHER, or BREAKING NEWS: ANNA NICOLE SLEEPS WITH BAHAMAS IMMIGRATION MINISTER!!!

Or the Britney Spears craziness!!! OPPPS SHE DID IT AGAIN!!!C'mon...poor little Britney fans are all dressing like her and trying to be like her and now she shaves her head. I wouldn't be surprised to see little girls walking around bald now! What is this world coming to??

Now, I here that Jeter and A-rod are not really good friends anymore! WHO CARES?!?! Let all these people live their lives!!They are humans, too.

The merging of XM and Sirius is a cool thing, but now I hear that there is a license that may prohibit them to partner up.

The story about the dog saving the live of 3 climbers is at least something that I feel is good to talk about. He cuddled up with them to keep them warm until they were rescued.

Finally, the JetBlue problem should not occur again. People should not be stranded on a plane for 11 hours during a snow and ice storm. Airlines should come up with a better, smarter approach!!

We wonder why people do stupid things. It's because of the media exposing other people's business for all of the world to see and do!!

MEN vs. WOMEN...

I believe men in today's society are said to be physically and emotionally strong. They are the CEOs and Presidents of our businesses. They are seen more as leaders then followers. Men are less emotional and less likely to admit to something that would make them look weak. The job of a man is to make most of the money to support his family. He usually works with his hands or wears a business suit. Men usually do things that are far out of reach. They do this to impress or simply just to try to get something done. Men usually enjoy sports and love to kick back and relax and watch a game or two. A man is also there to comfort a women when she is down.

Now for the women. I believe that women are very emotional and care about every little thing. The ladies usually work in an office and are usually secretaries. They love to spend money and love to be treated like princesses. They get their nails and toes done. They are more caring and and very good at comforting. Women start all the drama. Most love to judge people by the way they look and how they dress. They always want attention. If they don't get something, they do not give up until it is given to them. They obviously have that time of the month when they are moody(for lack of a better word). They cry a lot more and barely hold anything in. However, they can cook and they are better with children. They are also more patient. Women are also always on the phone!!

In the end, you can't live with them, you can't live without them.

It has finally started to snow here in my town of Belleville. I'm very excited only because I don't want to go to classes tomorrow. However, I do not look forward to shoveling the snow. It is definitely going to be a slushy, heavy snow and I'll probably end up hurting my back as usual. It also will be very slippery in some places, so it will be very unsafe to drive. Tomorrow will also be very cold because it is suppose to be windy.
I thought that today's class held my attention. The movie is really interesting. It was funny that when I left the class, I found myself humming the song the little girl was singing in the video. :) It is a great documentary because it shows the viewer what really occurs in Afghanistan and how people, mainly women and children , are treated. I look forward to finishing the video on Thursday and also to get the permission to watch Borat in class ;)... Anyway, HOPE it snows like crazy tomorrow and drive safely SEE YA!!!

Chillin in University Hall...

I am currently sitting in University Hall, very tired, waiting for my next class at 1. I am so bored and I'm thinking of leaving and skipping class. I could actually watch Borat right now because I have the DVD in my computer. It is one hilarious movie that you can't stop talking about. I know so many of the lines, it's crazy. I wonder if we would be allowed to watch it in class. It is actually quite educational. It shows how many Americans are Anti-Semitic and Anti-"homosexual". It shows why people of different nations hate us and what we do to deserve it. Racism is one of the main reasons. We make jokes about everything, in which, someone else with other beliefs may think is serious. It is a great movie and hopefully we can watch it in our class. Also, it FREEZING OUTSIDE!!! What happen to January when there was near 70 degree temperatures?? This little groundhog better be right for not seeing his shadow, because this weather sucks!! Well, I'm gunna go now. very interesting, but also quiet. It was very cold outside. I absolutely hate it when it's cold. Why can't we have sunshine and 60-70 degree weather year-round?????? I was also very tired. I was dozing off in the class before our class. I need to stop going to bed so late. Class today was enjoyable and interesting, but very quiet. I don't know if everyone was tired or if the cold weather kept us quiet. I enjoyed the videos on the website that we watched and especially liked the one about the American. For next class, I can't wait to find out the answers to the questions we asked today about the Taliban because I think it will be easier to talk about and therefore, the class should be more alert and involved. We're committing genocide in Iraq...

This article was interesting. It is from the viewpoint of a marine who was in Iraq when the war began in March 2003. He explains how the things going on in Iraq and the way marines are enlisted can be misleading. It is interesting how he talks about the war we are fighting. Our very strong military is up against a military that was devastated by sanctions. Many of their people are dying. It is said that an estimated 100,000 Iraqi civilians have croaked. I believe Genocide keeps happening because people continue to be racist. It all starts from a small group who hates a certain "type of people" and then when the group grows, the threat becomes greater for genocide. There are still gangs wandering our streets who you can say are involved with genocide.
I think by setting tougher laws and consequences such as death to the persecutors and killers would be our best bet to end genocide. Other than that, some things will unfortunately always be the same.

WOW!!!! I have just finished reading Night!!!For the 1st time in my life, I feel like crying after reading a book. This book was amazing. It's sad, it's happy, it's touching, it's suspenseful, it's scary, it's painful, etc. When I was reading this book, I felt every pain that everyone was encountering. The pain was not as intense as those who experienced it, but the way this book was organized and made, allows one to feel it and live through it. I like how Eliezer said he was living for his father. It showed what type of people were suffering; good, innocent people. It is sad and unbelievable what went on during this period in history. This book perfectly clarifies what occurred and how everything was done. It shows stories of survival and stories of death. All I can say is, "WOW."

Good Day, Bad Day....

Today was pretty fun. I got to go back to playing baseball. I haven't played since some time in June of last year. My coach from high school wanted me to work with the pitchers and infielders. I was pretty much a coach. I helped them with their mechanics and did some drills with them. Then, at the end of practice, we all played basketball. :) Oh, so that's the bad part of my day, btw. I AM ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AT BASKETBALL!! I have no dribble and when I shoot, the ball always seems to go everywhere other than in the hoop.:) Yea, it's pretty bad to watch. Also, I jammed my fingers while playing. Anyway, back to the baseball practice. I felt good helping the freshmen and sophomore players. I think it meant a lot that I came to help them because I was their captain last year and it shows that I didn't forget them. Also, they look up to me and most of them like me. I wasn't the type of captain who used his authority to boss them around and tell them what to do in a mean way. I am the type who puts himself in their shoes. I am one of them. I tell them what they should do to become better players and what it takes to be the best, without all the nonsense. I think I did a pretty good job. We did make it to the states last year and were #18th in the state at one point. It was really nice hearing one of the quiet kids tell me that he was happy I was there because I'm easy to talk to and very helpful. (I remember when I was a freshman and the captain used to boss me around and act all tough in front of his friends. It made me not want to go to practice anymore.)Today made me think about coaching in the future. But until then, I'll continue to volunteer my time to help them become the best they could be.

Giancarlo's the name and I am a Freshman at Montclair State. I am majoring in Business with a concentration in Management. I am from a small town in New Jersey called Belleville. I like to play sports such as baseball and football. I was the captain of my baseball team in high school and received many town and state honors as a pitcher.
In this class, I look forward to learning more about college life and understanding the importance of reading. I hope this class is fun, but at the same time, educational and meaningful. After attending this class for 3 days already, I already know that this class will be fun and educational as I want it to be.
